European river cruises have become all the rage. While several ocean going cruise lines have struggled to fill up staterooms this year, the growing number of European river cruises have been selling out at a pretty fast clip. The slower, relaxed pace of a river cruise, combined with the luxurious all-inclusive amenities some of the newest river cruise ships offer,…keep reading

It’s been over 20 years since I first visited Tahiti. Then it was on a 7-day Tahiti cruise on the Liberte (long expired). While the Society Islands are gorgeously beautiful, that visit was a bit of a disappointment, not because of the stunning visual candy, but because it didn’t really provide the enrichment I generally crave from my travels: good museums, better…keep reading

I disembarked from a week aboard Crystal Symphony, Crystal Cruise Lines‘ older and smaller of its two elegant cruise ships, cruising the British Isles. Crystal Symphony has recently undergone a considerable refurbishment, and the improvements are quite noticeable. Yes, in spite of consistently being rated among the best of cruise lines, Crystal Cruises understands the importance of keeping its ships fresh, particularly…keep reading

Ok, so maybe you have been there and done that… But when it comes to cruise vacations, there are always new creative tweaks cruise lines come up with to make the experience fresh and provide a new WoW. It wasn’t that long ago, after all, mainstream Royal Caribbean came out with the first rock-climbing wall, the first ice skating rink at sea, the first…keep reading

Uniworld’s 84-passengers luxury River Tosca is back in service on the Nile. There are over 300 ships operating Nile river cruises, and it’s impossible to know them all intimately, but it’s clear River Tosca is among the better Nile river ships today.
I cruised on the ship last October during its first week of operations, and to Uniworld’s credit, they temporarily ceased…keep reading

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a cruise line offer a circumnavigation of Australia cruise. In January, 2011, Silversea is doing just that, with a 30-day cruise, roundtrip from Sydney. Silver Shadow’s itinerary will call on Brisbane, Whitsunday Islands, Great Barrier Reef, Port Douglas, Cooktown, Darwin, Broome, Exmouth, Perth, Albany, Port Lincoln, Adelaide, Geelong, Melbourne and Hobart.
Presently, only Orion Expeditions…keep reading

While there’s been some criticisim in the news about Royal Caribbean’s decision to continue to call upon Labadee, in Haiti, as a port of call, we applaud their decision. Indeed there seems to be an incongruity with a large cruise ship with vacationing tourists calling on Haiti immediately following such devastation.
However, it’s unfortunate those media talking heads haven’t thought this…keep reading

We send a number of clients to Whistler, British Columbia, to ski. It is, after all, one of the premier ski areas in North America and one of the hosts for the 2010 Winter Games. And while most know Whistler as a great ski area, it’s catching on as a hugely popular summer destination as well, and a great getaway before…keep reading

For the first time ever, Disney Cruise Line will offer Alaska cruise itineraries out of Vancouver and Mexican Riviera cruise itineraries out of Los Angeles. But you still have to wait awhile – the action happens in 2011. This is exciting news for Disney fans that have been waiting for more diverse offerings from the line.
While our clients that have cruised on DCL have found…keep reading
